The Soundtrack of My Life

Growing up, music was my escape. My walls were plastered with posters of rock bands, and I lived for the radio countdown. Later, as a young mom, I sang along to whatever my son loved just to keep him smiling.

Now? I’m a 50-year-old Swiftie. I never saw that coming, but Taylor Swift’s music has become the soundtrack of this chapter — for working at my desk, driving, or winding down at night. Some days it’s jazz in the background, other days it’s loud pop and me singing at the top of my lungs like I’m still a teenager.

Music has always met me right where I am. The songs may change, but the way they carry me through life never has.

Why Pen Your Past?

Pen Your Past is where women share short stories — little pieces of life meant to be read, remembered, and passed on. Unlike journaling for yourself, these “story pebbles” are for connection. This one is about how music has followed me through every season of life.
