Morning Then vs. Morning Now

When my son was little, mornings were a blur of cartoons, cereal bowls, and mismatched socks. I was always rushing — packing lunches, checking homework, hunting down shoes. It felt like chaos, but it was our normal. Looking back, those mornings were messy and exhausting, but they were full of laughter and the sound of a little boy who thought I was the center of his world.
These days, my mornings are much quieter. I wake up to the sound of my dogs stretching and my cats demanding breakfast. I make coffee in peace. The rush is gone, replaced by calm routines. Sometimes I miss the noise, but I also appreciate this slower rhythm. Both seasons had their own kind of beauty — one noisy and demanding, one soft and steady.

Why Pen Your Past?
I started Pen Your Past as a sister project to Project: Improve Me. Over there, I share prompts to help women capture their lives one small story at a time. But here, it’s different. Pen Your Past is about connection — a place to share short stories with other women, to collect the little pieces of life that matter, and to pass them on.
Journaling is for yourself. Story Pebbles are for each other.
